Trama:
Set in a future Earth (2035 A.D.) where robots are common assistants and workers for their human owners, this is the story of "robotophobic" Chicago Police Detective Del Spooner's (Smith) investigation into the murder of Dr. Alfred Lanning (James Cromwell), who works at U.S. Robotics, in which a robot, Sonny (Tudyk), appears to be implicated, even though that would mean the robot had violated the Three Laws of Robotics, which is apparently impossible. It seems impossible because.. if robots can break those laws, there's nothing to stop them from taking over the world, as humans have grown to become completely dependent upon their robots. Or maybe... they already have? Aiding Spooner in his investigation is a psychologist, Dr. Susan Calvin (Moynahan), who specializes in the psyches of robots.
Trivia random: When Detective Spooner walks up to the garage containing the motorcycle, the code he enters on the door pad is 911.

Biografia:
Born in Los Angeles but raised in Manhattan and educated at Middlebury College and Carnegie Tech, James Cromwell - the son of noted film director John Cromwell - studied acting at Carnegie-Mellon. He went into the theater (like both his parents) doing everything from Shakespeare to experimental plays. He started doing TV in 1974, gaining some notice in a recurring role as Archie Bunker's buddy Stretch Cunningham in "All in the Family" (1971), made his film debut in 1976, and goes back to the stage periodically. Some of his more noted film roles have been in Revenge of the Nerds (1984) and the surprise hit about a charming pig, Babe (1995). He garnered some of the best reviews of his career - many of which said he should have received an Oscar - for his role as a corrupt, conniving police captain in L.A. Confidential (1997).
Trivia random: At 6' 7", he is the tallest Oscar-nominated actor of all time (he was nominated for his Best Actor in a Support Role in Babe (1995)).
Citazione random: "The goal of the government was to get all the leaders of the Black Panther Party in jail so that they could be killed systematically through prison violence, and that way they could stop what was a very powerful and evolving movement. I don't think we would have the kind of prison population now and what happens in this country with the gangs if the Panthers had been allowed to continue what they decided to do, which was basically empower black communities to take back their self control and reestablish the dignity of being a black person in this country" - on the Black Panthers movement of the 1960s

Biografia:
Isaac Asimov was born Isaak Ozimov on January 2, 1920, in Petrovichi shtetl (village), near Smolensk, Russia. His father Judah and his mother Anna Rachel (nee Berman were Orthodox Jews. In 1923 the Asimovs emigrated to the US and settled in Brooklyn, New York. There his parents corrected his birthday to September 7, 1919, in order to send him to school a year earlier.Asimov was an avid reader from the age of 5. He spoke Yiddish and English at home with his parents. In 1935 he graduated from high school, in 1939 received a B.S. and in 1941 an M.Sc. in Chemistry from Columbia University. His studies were interrupted by work and military service during the Second World War. In 1948 he completed his postgraduate studies and received a Ph.D. in Biochemistry. In 1949 he began his teaching career at the Medical School of Boston University, becoming assistant professor in 1951, associate professor in 1955 and full professor in 1979. His income from his literary works was much greater than his professor's salary, and Asimov stopped taking pay for teaching. He was considered one of the best lecturers at Boston University.Asimov was raised as a non-religious person, did not have a bar mizvah and called himself an atheist. He did not oppose genuine religious convictions in others but did oppose superstitious or unfounded beliefs. he defined his intellectual position as a humanist and rationalist. He opposed the Vietnam war in the 1960s and was a supporter of the Democratic party. He embraced environmental issues and supported feminism, joking that he wished women to be free "because I hate it when they charge". He was also humorous about his memberships in various clubs and foundations. As a free thinker, Asimov saw sci-fi literature serving as a pool where ideas and hypotheses are expressed with unrestricted intellectual freedom. At the age of 11 he wrote eight chapters of a fiction novel about the adventures of young boys in a small town. His first publication was "Marooned Off Vesta" in "Amazing Stories"magazine in 1939. Asimov shot to fame in 1941 with "Nightfall", a story of a planet where night comes once every 2049 years. It has been described as one of the best science-fiction story ever written. Asimov wrote over 500 literary works. He is credited with introducing the words "positronic", "psycho-history" and "robotics" into the English language. He penned such classics as "I, Robot" and the "Foundation" series, often considered to be the most impressive of his writings. He also founded "Isaac Asimov's Science Fiction Magazine", which became a best-selling publication.Asimov met Gertrude Blugherman on a blind date on Valentine's Day in February 1942, and they married in July that year. The Asimovs had two children, David (born in 1951) and daughter Robyn Joan (born in 1955). Asimov met Janet Opal Jeppson in the late 1950s. She was a psychoanalyst and also a writer of science fiction for children. Correspondence with her convinced Asimov that she was the right kind of person for him. After his first marriage ended in divorce, he married Janet in 1973. That marriage was childless. In 1983 Asimov contracted HIV infection from a tainted blood transfusion received during a triple bypass surgery. He eventually developed AIDS and wanted to go public about it, but his doctors convinced Asimov to remain silent. He died of heart and renal failure from complications of AIDS on April 6, 1992, in Boston, Massachussets, and was cremated. His ashes were scattered.
Trivia random: His family moved to the US in the last year that this was easy to do. Very likely they would not have qualified if they had not done so.

Biografia:
Will Smith was the second of four children of Caroline and Willard Smith Sr., owner of a refrigeration company. He grew up in middle class West Philadelphia and got the nickname 'Prince' because of the way he could charm his way out of trouble. Pursuing music, he met Jeff Townes at a party and they soon began performing together as DJ Jazzy Jeff and the Fresh Prince. When the duo took off in popularity, Smith made, and spent a lot of money on a house, cars and jewelry. But Smith was looking for something new when, in 1989, he met Benny Medina, who had an idea for a sitcom based on his life in Beverly Hills. Smith loved the idea as did NBC which put on the "The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air" (1990). The plot was simple - Will basically played himself; a street-smart West Philly kid transplanted to Beverly Hills. The series lasted 6 years. During that time, he ventured into movies where the critics took note of him in Six Degrees of Separation (1993). With the success that came with the action picture Bad Boys (1995), Will's movie career was set. His had a huge hit with the Blockbuster Independence Day (1996) where he plays the alien-battling Marine Corps Captain Steven Hiller.
Trivia random: Graduate of Philly's legendary Overbrook High School, whose alumni include Wilt Chamberlain, Hal Lear, Wali Jones, Walt Hazzard, The Dovells, The Orlons, DeeDee Sharp, etc. and in tribute to his student years there, his production is called Overbrook Entertainment.
Citazione random: "My biggest emotional defeat and the greatest emotional pain I've had as an actor was when 'Wild Wild West' opened up to $52 million. The movie wasn't good. And it hurt so bad to be the No. 1 movie, to open at $52 million and to know the movie wasn't good."
