Ginger Snaps: adolescenti, suicidi, mestruazioni e lupi mannari. Horror un po' fuori dagli schemi, va detto.
Due sorelle depresse, isolate e zimbello della scuola (
Carrie anyone?) vivono in attesa del sedicesimo compleanno: se per allora la loro vita non avrà subito una svolta, attueranno il patto suicidia stipulato anni prima.
Suppongo che le mestruazioni della più grande (in
VAGO ritardo), l'essere assalita e morsa da qualcosa che somiglia ad un lupo mannaro e che genera in lei inquietanti trasformazioni, soddisfi in pieno il requisito "
svolta".
Il rapporto tra le due si incrina, oltre al fatto che un sacco di gente e di animali iniziano a morire, nei dintorni...
Film ben scritto e diretto in maniera decorosa, cerca di staccarsi dagli horror puerili degli ultimi anni, ed in buona misura ci riesce.
Certo, ci sono troppi tempi morti, alcune cose potevano essere sviluppate meglio e gli effetti speciali fanno pena, ma in fondo importa poco: la trama è abbastanza originale e soprattutto divertente da seguire.
I vari personaggi sono stati studiati (ed usati) molto bene, e tutto considerato si merita lo status di "piccolo cult". E poi
Katharine Isabelle è un discreto vedere.
Dei seguiti, ho visto solo il terzo,
Licantropia: neanche tragico, ma sicuramente non a livello di questo primo capitolo.

Cast:Trama:Is becoming a woman analogous, in some deep psychological way, to becoming a werewolf? Ginger is 16, edgy, tough, and, with her younger sister, into staging and photographing scenes of death. They've made a pact about dying together. In early October, on the night she has her first period, which is also the night of a full moon, a werewolf bites Ginger. Within a few days, some serious changes happen to her body and her temperament. Her sister Brigitte, 15, tries to find a cure with the help of Sam, a local doper. As Brigitte races against the clock, Halloween and another full moon approach, Ginger gets scarier, and it isn't just local dogs that begin to die.
Trivia random: Although Katharine Isabelle is supposed to be playing Emily Perkins' older sister, she is actually five years younger than Emily in real life.

Cast:Trama:Brigitte's on the run from Bailey Downs, and she tries to prevent what happened to her sister, Ginger, from happening to her by shooting up with monkshood. Eventually she collapses and the police that find assume the monkshood is an illegal drug, and she is sent to rehab. She is deprived of the only thing that will stop her from turning into a beast and killing everyone and everything in her way. She meets a girl who is quiet and not well-liked, and much like herself, by the name of Ghost that helps her deal with her new problem and to escape the werewolf curse.
