Fatto arrivare in versione inglese (no, se non ci sono costretto faccio
sempre a meno di seguire un film in una lingua che non conosco, limitandomi a leggere i sottotitoli) da
amazon.com, si è finalmente potuta colmare la lacuna di
Infernal Affairs.
Infernal Affairs è il film di cui il pluri-premiato
The Departed è il remake, ed in effetti a livello di trama le sovrapposizioni sono enormi - il che è una ottima cosa per entrambi, per inciso.
Il capo di una
triade hong-kongese invia alcuni dei suoi ad infiltrarsi in vari corpi di polizia; allo stesso tempo gli investigatori spediscono un loro uomo a lavorare sotto copertura per il mafioso.
Passano gli anni ed i due perdono progressivamente di vista gli obiettivi originali delle loro rispettive organizzazioni, finendo per identificarsi sempre di più nella nuova vita che stanno conducendo.
Infine, inevitabilmente, l'equilibrio si spezzerà e voleranno le pallottole.
Il film di
Scorsese risulta più pulito a livello registico e con una fotografia migliore. Anche i dialoghi hanno quel
quid in più e gli attori sono eccezionali (
Jack Nicholson su tutti).
Nonostante questo, sotto molti aspetti, ho preferito Infernal Affairs: 100 minuti invece di 150 costringono a non introdurre troppi elementi estranei alla vicenda principale (lo pseudo-triangolo amoroso, in primis), ed in fondo anche qui regia, recitazione e dialoghi sono di ottimo livello.
Dove brilla, poi, è nel finale: più conciso, meno involuto e meno
"deus ex machina" rispetto a quello proposto da Scorsese, risulta in assoluto più digeribile e - semplicemente -
molto più bello.

He graduated from NYU as a film major in 1964.
