M. Night Shyamalan piace, come regista e scrittore.
Ok,
The Village erano piuttosto inutile sotto qualunque aspetto, ma per il resto l'ho sempre apprezzato molto.
Le critiche negative di
Lady in the Water mi facevano temere che il (rapido) declino della sua (breve) carriera fosse in pieno svolgimento; sono invece rimasto abbastanza soddisfatto dalla visione.
Una antica favola orientale (inventata per il film) narra di strani abitanti del mare, amici e consiglieri degli uomini. Col passare delle generazioni però gli esseri umani si allontanarono progressivamente dal mare, dedicandosi a guerre e conquiste.
Ancora oggi queste creature del mare inviano sulla terra degli emissari che cercano di contattare la persona giusta: questa, spronata, ha il potere di imprimere una svolta positiva al progresso dell'umanità.
Uno di questi esseri (la sempre inquietante
Bryce Dallas Howard - e che nessuno mi parli di
"fascino particolare": è proprio un cessetto
) sbuca nella piscina di un condominio, dove dovrà identificare tra i mal assortiti abitanti i vari personaggi narrati nella leggenda. Va da sé che oscure forze tramano contro questo incontro.
Niente più di una strana favoletta, ma ben raccontata e con dei buoni personaggi. Nulla di stupefacente, ma ci si trova incuriositi nel cercare di collegare i ruoli alle persone.
Bravo tutto il cast, con molte facce note.

Cast:Trama:In a quiet, isolated village in olde Pennsylvania, there lies a pact between the people of the village and the creatures who reside in the surrounding woods: the townspeople do not enter the woods, and the creatures do not enter the village. Trivia random: Local Chadds Ford artist Andrew Wyeth's works were used as inspiration for the look of the film. In fact the house shared by Joaquin Phoenix and Sigourney Weaver was a copy of the one that appears in a Wyeth watercolor painting titled "Open Shed".
